ABOUT CABC

The Chicago Aldermanic Black Caucus (CABC) is comprised of 20 members of the Chicago City Council who collectively represent and advocate for the needs, priorities, and aspirations of Chicago’s Black communities. United by a shared commitment to equity, accountability, and opportunity, the Caucus works to advance policies that promote sustainable growth, community empowerment, and an improved quality of life for residents across the city.

The Caucus recognizes that true equity is achieved through intentional and comprehensive investment in physical, social, and economic infrastructure. These interconnected systems form the foundation of thriving communities and are essential to ensuring that all residents have access to the resources and opportunities necessary to succeed.

OUR FOCUS AREAS

Physical Infrastructure

We support investments in critical assets such as roads, bridges, public transit, and utilities—resources that enable mobility, safety, and connectivity while strengthening neighborhood resilience and long-term development.

Social Infrastructure

Strong communities require strong institutions. The Caucus prioritizes equitable access to quality schools, healthcare facilities, and social services that directly impact educational attainment, public health, and overall well-being.

Economic Infrastructure

Economic empowerment is central to community stability and growth. We advocate for systems that support job creation, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and access to capital—including financial institutions, commercial corridors, and industrial development that create pathways to economic mobility.

Advancing Equity Through Policy and Advocacy
For Chicago’s Black communities, equitable investment in infrastructure is not optional—it is essential. The Caucus works collaboratively at the city and state levels to ensure policies and funding decisions address historic disinvestment and unlock opportunities for education, healthcare access, economic participation, and public safety.

Together, the Caucus remains committed to building stronger neighborhoods, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that Chicago’s Black communities thrive—today and for generations to come.
